Saturday Injury Drop-In Screenings
Do you occasionally suffer from aches and pains when you run? Have you been repeatedly sidelined by chronic injuries? Do you sometimes wonder whether you can “train through” something bothering you or whether you need medical attention/a break? The Saturday Injury Drop-In Program is your opportunity to spend time with a medical professional AT NO COST and discuss your problems and questions (or how to avoid problems in the future if you’ve been injury free!)
Starting on May 8th, and every Saturday thereafter, you will be able to stop in to select =PR= locations (see schedule below) between 12-2 PM and meet with a medical professional relevant to runners and walkers (Podiatrist, Physical Therapist, Orthopedist, Sports Medicine Professional, Athletic Trainer, Sports Massage Practioner, etc.)
As we work to implement this program completely, we’ll gradually add Injury Drop-In days at our various =PR= locations. We’ll post on this page the available practices and a bio of the medical professional attending.
We hope this program will help you stay on the road/track/treadmill injury free!
Below is the list of practitioners that will be available for injury screenings on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 12-2 PM:

=PR= Arlington: 3924 Wilson Blvd.Capitol Metro Physical Therapy: Heather Carr, PT, DPT, OCS, MTCHeather developed her interest in Physical Therapy growing up as a competitive gymnast. Through her intensive training and subsequent injuries she often found herself in Physical Therapy which provided great help in her career. This positive early exposure combined with her love of science and medicine paved the way for her to become a Physical Therapist. Heather attended Boston University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies in 2000 and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2002. After practicing for a few years, Heather decided to further her education and clinical skills by receiving her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2008 from the University of St. Augustine. Through her 8 years of practice, Heather has developed two areas of specialty: orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation. She believes expertise in each area reinforces the other and cross application strengthens her ability to provide high quality care. In 2008, she became Board Certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). In 2007, she earned her Certification in Manual Therapy (MTC) from the University of St. Augustine. Heather has extensive experience in working with individuals who have experienced a stroke or brain injury. For the last 7 years, she has served on a multidisciplinary team for a day treatment program focusing on this population at National Rehabilitation Hospital. She thoroughly enjoys the challenge of improving these individuals’ abilities to walk and balance and the meaningful impact it has on their quality of life. She appreciates the opportunity to spend adequate 1:1 time with her clients to allow them to get the most from her treatments and subsequently achieve a successful outcome.
